Basic Science

The Samueli Institute Basic Sciences Program is committed to employing state-of-the art developments in biosciences, coupled with innovative and translational research strategies to understand health and healing. Through worldwide collaborations with major universities and scientific research centers, the Institute is investigating the fundamental biology of approaches such as mind-body medicine and natural products. By employing a translational approach that is oriented toward advancing basic research to both patient care and public health policy, the Institute seeks to implement an agenda of research applications “from bench to bedside to boardroom.”
