
Pamela Elfenbaum, PhD, MPH
Senior Research Psychologist
Pamela Elfenbaum, PhD, MPH, is a Senior Research Psychologist in Military Medical Research at Samueli Institute. Elfenbaum is responsible for assessments, interpretations and recommendations in the specialized area of clinical psychology and human behavior, using psychological theories, models, techniques, and practices in the review, evaluation, and implementation of research for military programs. She has had a primary role with several military research projects including program evaluation, needs assessments, and she exercises technical discretion in the design, execution and interpretation of research projects. She has trained staff in focus group facilitation and interview skills and conducted focus groups on several research projects. Elfenbaum is also the expert panel manager for the SEaRCH program.
Elfenbaum earned her Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California. She received her Masters in Public Health from UCLA and her BA in psychology at UC Berkeley. She has broad research and consulting experience in evidenced based practices, and has also consulted in the evaluation of behavioral medicine and integrative medicine programs for hospitals and clinics. Elfenbaum also has a private practice and uses a CBT focus in treatment of adults with anxiety and mood disorders, couples/relationships, stress management, career issues and mind/body medicine. Her research focuses on PTSD, resilience, stress and pain management, integrative medicine and relationships.
