Proceedings: Bridging Worlds and Filling Gaps in the Science of Healing, Hawaii,  November 2001

A. NAME AND LOCATION:
Bridging Worlds and Filling Gaps in the Science of Spiritual Healing
Keauhou Beach Resort, Kona, Hawaii
November 29-December 4, 2001

B. SPONSORS:
Laurance S. Rockefeller Family Foundation
SAMUELI INSTITUTE
Earl Bakken Foundation
Five Mountain Community
Institute of Noetic Sciences
Richard S. Pavek Foundation

C. PURPOSE AND FOCUS:
To build on two previous conferences on the science of spiritual healing by addressing the traditional healing practices of Hawaii, and presenting research data on intentional effect, energy medicine and spiritual healing in Asia, problems encountered in conducting research with subtle energy measurement devices and the ability to access health information intuitively, current data on brain function during spiritual practices and healing, and examination of exceptional human body functions. A plan will be developed for a conference on the ethical issues in the area of religion and spiritual healing research and the use of public and private money for supporting research in these areas.

D. AUDIENCE:
Basic and clinical research scientists, health providers, government officials involved in research policy

E. OUTCOME:
Conference Proceedings were published May 2002.
