To explore and discuss the definitions of optimal healing environment and the seven component areas that relate to it, to recommend protocol designs for research in these areas and to provide current examples of programs that deliver these elements in the a health care setting.

Basic and clinical scientists, academics, health maintenance organization providers and administrators, policy makers and philosophers.

E. OUTCOME
The 25 papers prepared for the conference will be published as a Supplement to the Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine in September 2004.
