2008 Conferences
The Samueli Institute will be participating in and sponsoring the following conferences this year.
2nd Annual Conference on Nutrition & Supplements:
An Evidence-Based Approach
March 1 - 2, 2008
Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport
Irvine, California
This conference is a forum to share knowledge and foster collaboration between healthcare providers from all disciplines. Nutrition and supplements play a major role in many aspects of disease development and management. We live in a time of extensive availability of food options and dietary supplement choices. However, consumers and healthcare providers are poorly educated about the potential role of food and dietary supplements. According to the National Cancer Institute (NCI): “Serious diseases that are linked to what we eat kill an estimated three out of four Americans each year. These diseases include heart disease, high blood pressure, stroke, some types of cancer, and diabetes.” Consumers are looking for health care providers for advice and guidance about nutrition and dietary supplements. The role of food and its components in optimizing health and management of disease conditions throughout the life cycle will be discussed.
